How Gleaning For The World is Bringing Hope in 2025

These are just three of the many projects we are currently working on, and each one represents a piece of the larger mission we have been dedicated to for 27 years.

Continuing Our Mission Into 2025

Our mission to provide in-kind assistance to meet basic human needs is not seasonal. The need for help and support persists all year long, and if anything, it is growing.

We hear this reality every day from our distribution partners who are positioned in key areas around the world. The challenges they describe underscore a truth we cannot ignore: there is a lot of hurt in our world.

Yet, in the face of these hardships, we continue to respond. This month alone, we are working on several impactful projects, right here at home, across the country, and around the world.

Helping Our Neighbors in Central Virginia

Our local initiative, Helping Our Neighbors, continues to expand as we support an increasing number of community partners with monthly in-kind donations. These donations include nonperishable food, personal care items, cleaning and laundry supplies, and household essentials.

These resources directly benefit pregnancy centers, women’s shelters, veteran services, social services, and church pantries, helping those in need throughout Central Virginia. We are committed to strengthening our local community and ensuring that our neighbors have access to basic necessities.

Helping Communities Rebuild From Disasters

Hurricane Helene struck in late September, leaving a devastating trail of destruction across several states. Even now, months later, many communities are still recovering and will continue to rebuild for years to come. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to respond immediately by sending in-kind donations to partners serving the hardest-hit areas in Western North Carolina and Southwest Virginia. But our work does not stop there.

Long-Term Recovery Groups are now forming, and we remain in close contact with them to support the continued recovery process. Through financial donations, we can provide new household furnishings and appliances to families who are moving into new or refurbished homes after losing everything. The ability to offer both immediate relief and long-term support is only possible because of the financial contributions we receive from our incredible supporters.

WINGS is Empowering Girls Around the World

One of our most life-changing programs is the WINGS initiative, which provides sustainable feminine hygiene kits to young girls living in poverty or difficult circumstances.

Many girls around the world miss school for days at a time each month due to a lack of proper hygiene products. This impacts their education, confidence, and opportunities for the future. Our WINGS Kits, hand-sewn in our very own sewing center, offer a solution.

A recent donation of several hundred kits is now on its way to Mexico, St. Vincent, Guatemala, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and South Africa through upcoming mission trips. These kits will give young girls access to safe, sanitary supplies, ensuring that they no longer miss school or face shame during their monthly cycle.

27 Years of Impact Thanks to You

These are just three of the many projects we are currently working on, and each one represents a piece of the larger mission we have been dedicated to for 27 years.

“To share the love of God here at home and around the world through the efficient delivery of high-quality, life-saving supplies.”

Every shipment, every donation, and every life changed is made possible because of you. Your prayers, volunteer efforts, in-kind donations, and financial contributions make all the difference. Thank you for standing with us. Together, we are making an impact, one community, one family, and one life at a time.

In service and partnership,
