Join Gleaning For The World for a fun-filled day supporting Helping Our Neighbors
Gleaning For The World is excited to announce the first-ever Gleaning Duck Pluck, a family-friendly community fundraising event taking place Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at American Legion Lake, located behind the Lynchburg American Legion at 1301 Greenview Drive in Lynchburg, VA.
This brand-new event brings together families, friends, local businesses, and community supporters for a day filled with excitement, laughter, and purpose, all while helping support Gleaning’s Helping Our Neighbors program. Through this program, Gleaning For The World provides food, hygiene items, household goods, and essential supplies to individuals and families across Central and Southwest Virginia who are facing difficult circumstances.
The highlight of the event will feature 2,500 rubber ducks released into American Legion Lake, where the first three ducks plucked from the water will win exciting prizes:
- 1st Place: $2,500 Cash Prize
- 2nd Place: $1,000 Cash Prize
- 3rd Place: $500 Cash Prize
Each duck entry is just $10, giving participants an opportunity to win while directly supporting neighbors in need throughout the region. Guests attending the Duck Pluck can also enjoy a full day of family activities and entertainment, including local food trucks, carnival-style games, prizes, a kids’ zone, local vendors and artisans, and a classic car show. There is still time for car enthusiasts to register their vehicles to participate in the show.
“The Duck Pluck is all about bringing hope and joy to our community, one duck at a time,” said Jeane Smiley-Mason, President of Gleaning For The World. “Every duck adopted represents someone in our region who will receive real, tangible help when they need it most.”
