HELPING OUR VETERANS
Last Tuesday, we delivered supplies to our local Veterans Affairs clinic in Lynchburg. The supplies we gave help meet basic needs and are offered freely to the men and women receiving services there: Bottled water, feminine hygiene products, and personal care hygiene kits. We’ve committed to delivering these items (and more, if needed) once a month in an effort to give back to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. This is just our small way of saying “thank you”.

While we have committed to delivering specific supplies to the VA Clinic each month, we want to do something extra special for our local veterans as the holidays are right around the corner.
That’s why, in October, Gleaning is hosting a one-month collection of specific supplies for local veterans who may need a helping hand. These collected items will be distributed starting on November 11th, which is Veterans Day, and throughout the winter months that follow. The items will be distributed through the Salem Veterans Affairs Hospital, the Lynchburg VA Clinic, and through area veterans groups.
We’re collecting items such as brand-new packaged socks and underwear in all sizes for men and women, which is the greatest need among homeless veterans. We’re also collecting pens & notepads, candy & gum, as well as unsealed, signed Christmas cards which will be delivered in the days approaching Christmas day.
We want to share God’s love in everything we do. Will you join us in providing small but meaningful gifts over the next few months for the men and women who have served our country?
