NEWSLETTER, APRIL 2020
It seems, on many levels, our world has been turned upside down. Many things we had taken for granted are now uncertain. And, our daily routines are no more.
That has certainly been the case for me and our Gleaning For The World team. Yet, through it all, we stand firm and committed to making a real and lasting difference in these days of turmoil.
Even as the Coronavirus was emerging overseas, we were actively responding to those impacted by the devastating tornados in Tennessee. We placed two tractor trailer loads of supplies in Cookeville valued at $140,260. These loads consisted of:
- Nonperishable Food and Snacks
- Personal Care and Hygiene Products
- Kitchen and Household Items – Plates Cups, Cutlery, Storage Containers, Trash Bags and Storage Bags
- Paper Products – Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Napkins and Tissues
- Baby Supply – Baby Food, Diapers, Wipes, Creams and Lotion
- Pet Food, Liter and Treats
- Gatorade and Healthy Juices
Our work in Tennessee is ongoing.
As the Coronavirus hit the radar weeks ago, we began shipping critical supplies to medical facilities, including:
- Hospitals, First Responders and EMT’s, Nursing Homes, Mental Health, Social Workers, Hospice nurses and Feeding Shelters.
- We have distributed Protective Coveralls, Gloves, 3-Ply Face Masks and N95 Masks. In all, we have shipped more than 5.5 million masks and PPE!
Our work in this global crisis continues and will for some time. In addition to our international assistance, we have provided medical supplies to partners in VA, NC, PA, NY, NJ, IL and CA.
Meanwhile, although not nearly as visible right now, our ongoing humanitarian aid efforts continue as many are facing the hardships of natural and man-made disasters around the globe. The trials of life continue, even as everyone is focused on the pandemic.
Your partnership is vital to us and we do not take it for granted. While some become more conservative in their financial giving during uncertain times, I can assure you that the one place you should continue to consider supporting is Gleaning For The World.
I can say that boldly because I see firsthand the work that is done every day out of our humble warehouses in Concord, VA. Our team of volunteers, staff and product partners are busy helping others.
Yes, we are following all the safety guidelines and government restrictions as they evolve, however, we are continuing to receive, prepare and ship critical products where they are needed most.
And, as we each celebrate the meaning of Easter in our hearts, may you experience life in a new way this month. May it be the birth of a new era for you – a fresh start!
Thank you for your commitment to helping others who are less fortunate than yourselves. I am praying that, together, we will meet the challenge once again.
If our team can be of assistance to you in any way, please let us know. We are praying that God will do an amazing work through our efforts this month, and beyond!
In Service and Partnership,
