Homecoming for Amory, Mississippi – A Gleaning Charity Initiative

In the blink of an eye, life can change dramatically. This harsh reality hit home on March 24, 2023, when a devastating tornado tore through Amory, Mississippi, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Over 1,500 homes and businesses were damaged or destroyed, and countless lives were shattered. In the midst of this crisis, Gleaning has taken a stand to make a difference. We have teamed up with a local partner in Amory to help 26 families, comprised of 63 men, women, and children, who are most in need. These families were displaced from their homes, losing everything they held dear. Our goal is to provide them with a homecoming they deserve.

In the heart of Amory, the Moore Manor Apartments stood as a symbol of community living. But the tornado’s fury left 49 families, who called Moore Manor home, displaced and without shelter. The scale of this tragedy is hard to imagine but together, we can help rebuild their lives and their hope.

Gleaning believes in the power of community, compassion, and generosity. We aim to make a lasting impact on those facing adversity, and our Homecoming – Mississippi Tornado 2023 project is a testament to that commitment.

Working with our local partner in the region, we have an opportunity to help 26 of the families most in need. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to make great strides in helping most of these families but we still need your support to ensure that every single one of them has their happy homecoming.
