FEEDBACK FROM OUR LOUISIANA PARTNERS ON HURRICANE IDA

“Bring it! Bring it,I told him!”
In a recent conversation with a church staff member at the Covenant Church in Houma, Louisiana, Jerry instantly became a new friend!

We learned that his church members have already been hard at work collecting and giving away food, hygiene items, pet and baby supplies within their community of Houma, following the aftermath of hurricane Ida. They’ve done this before – last year after hurricanes Laura and Delta devastated neighboring cities.

This time, they are helping those affected by Hurricane Ida, a deadly category 4 hurricane is responsible for dozens of deaths across multiple states and an estimated $50 billion in damages.

“It’s just a very bad situation,” Jerry explained. “We didn’t get the flood waters like most hurricanes; we got bad wind damage and there’s plenty and plenty and plenty of thousands of people without houses right now.”

While the homes and buildings surrounding them were torn apart, God spared the church building. They received only minor roof leaks!

When Jerry heard from our disaster relief coordinator, Roy St. John, about a tractor trailer filled with relief supplies we want to send their way, this was his response:

Bring it. Bring it, I told him! We need everything we can get right now for these people. We just want to help everybody we can.”

Jerry was also amazed that Gleaning’s supporters give donations to help fill a tractor trailer!

He said, “That’s awesome when people just want to gather with the church and just help out others. It’s just an awesome situation. It’s just great that we work together! We have to work together because if we don’t, we’re going to be all in the enemy’s hand, and the church doesn’t want to be that way.”

The he added, “It is amazing how everybody is bonding together to get this done.”

Today Gleaning is loading another tractor trailer of desperately needed relief supplies for the victims of Hurricane Ida.  Thank you for joining alongside Gleaning For The World to help in times of crisis and more.

Today, truly, you are a blessing!
