You’re probably familiar with #GivingTuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving) which is a day celebrated internationally, in which we are encouraged to give a donation to the non-profits we stand behind.
Because of COVID-19, the folks behind #GivingTuesday have created a special day of giving on Tuesday, May 5th. They are calling it #GivingTuesdayNOW.
Nonprofits rely on donations to keep their organizations running. With the current economic issues surrounding COVID-19, and especially with many people out of work, financial donations everywhere have suffered… including here at Gleaning.
We’ve set up a special donation page for #GivingTuesdayNOW. The donations you give towards this special day will be used for the stuff nobody likes to think about – but is necessary to keep an organization running: That’s right… Overhead (electricity, printer paper, phone bills, etc.)
Your donation will help us continue assisting those in need during this time. We’ve been busy distributing 45,000 pounds of potatoes for hungry families and individuals, and we’ve been supplying PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for medical workers and first responders all around central Virginia. We’ve also been sending supplies to Nashville, TN, and Moss, MS, after devastating tornadoes barreled through, leaving many homeless. …and our international work continues as well. Poverty doesn’t stop when a pandemic shows up. If anything, it gets worse.
#GivingTuesdayNOW will be celebrated on May 5th, however, you don’t have to wait until then to donate to this cause. Click the button below to visit our #GivingTuesdayNOW donation page. All donations given on this page between today and next Tuesday will be designated for helping Gleaning as we continue our work of helping those in need in this unprecedented time.
