THE TRUCK IS HEADED TO TENNESSEE!
Yesterday, we held a cleanup and muck-out supply collection for the victims of the Waverly, Tennessee devastating flood that happened on Saturday.
Today, the truck is on its way to Tennessee, with our Disaster Relief Coordinator, Roy St. John, in the driver’s seat. Roy will deliver and help distribute the load of bleach, heavy duty trash bags, mops, brooms, dust pans, shovels, rakes, plastic totes and more.
When disaster strikes, our team moves into what we call “disaster mode,” where our work, and pace, significantly increase. All hands are on deck to meet the additional deadlines because we know time is of the essence.
This morning, as we finalized our truck preparations, we invited the volunteers that were with us in our Concord, Virginia warehouse to check out the loaded truck before it hits the road. I explained to them, how – through God’s provision and the help of so many generous supporters – we were able to gather the supplies and turn this truck around in just over 24 hours! God is very good to us! And now, so many will be blessed by the contents of this truck!
One young college student named Shae (who just began volunteering with us this week) said, “I think it’s really amazing that you guys were able to collect all of that in one day and take it to the people who need it so quickly.”
One of our long-term dedicated volunteers, Carla, said, “It just goes to show you that we’ve been doing this for 20 years and we know what’s needed whenever disasters happen and we know what to do to fill that need.”
Whether you live in Virginia or California – or somewhere in between – your partnership makes it possible to help those in need here at home, across the United States, and around the world!
Thank you!
