Donate Stuffed Animals, Receive Free Ice Cream!
Returning to Mister Goodies on Timberlake Road is the 4th annual Share-A-Bear-A-Thon! Mister Goodies and Gleaning For The World have teamed up once again in celebration of National Teddy Bear Day (which is celebrated each September) to host the Share-A-Bear-A-Thon one night stuffed animal drive.
This year, the Share-A-Bear-A-Thon will take place on Friday, September 22 from 5pm to 8pm in the parking lot of Mister Goodies at 21556 Timberlake Rd, Lynchburg, VA
Mister Goodies is offering a free ice cream cone to any person who donates one stuffed animal to the Teddy Bear Brigade that evening from 5pm until 8pm. Additionally, anyone who donates five or more stuffed animals can receive any Mister Goodies menu item for free! The stuffed animals donated go to Gleaning’s Teddy Bear Brigade.
Gleaning For The World collects and sends stuffed animals through their Teddy Bear Brigade program all year long. They clean, sort, and pack the stuffed animals and place them onto international shipping containers which are sent to partners who distribute the plush toys to children living in poverty, in orphanages, or in refugee camps. The organization distributes approximately 35,000 stuffed animals to children each year through their Teddy Bear Brigade.
Additionally, some of the collected stuffed animals are given to children in the aftermath of natural disasters as a way to bring them hope and comfort after a traumatic event. Past Share-A-Bear-A-Thon events have brought in approximately 1,000 stuffed animals in just one night! That’s a lot of joy shared with children in need.
“We have so much gratitude for Mister Goodies. They have partnered with Gleaning year after year to present the Share-A-Bear-A-Thon event! We appreciate their generosity in helping kids in need, and their generosity in giving away free ice cream to local donors,” Gleaning’s president, Jeane Smiley-Mason said. “I want to extend a special thank you to the team at Mister Goodies, and to the community who has supported this event in the past. We look forward to seeing you all on September 22nd.”
