Haiti Relief Update

On August 14th 2021, Haitians experienced a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that took the lives of more than 2,200 people, and left over 12,000 injured. Hundreds are still unaccounted for. 50,000 homes were destroyed, leaving untold numbers of families and individuals homeless. Our partners in Haiti are working around the clock to help with medical care for the injured and temporary placements for those who lost their homes.

Gleaning Heads To TN

Today, the truck is on its way to Tennessee, with our Disaster Relief Coordinator, Roy St. John, in the driver’s seat. Roy will deliver and help distribute the load of bleach, heavy duty trash bags, mops, brooms, dust pans, shovels, rakes, plastic totes and more. When disaster strikes, our team moves into what we call “disaster mode,” where our work, and pace, significantly increase. All hands are on deck to meet the additional deadlines because we know time is of the essence.

Here we go again! If you’ve been anywhere near a newscast lately you’re probably aware that there have been several major weather activities going on in the last week. One in particular is the torrential rainfall our friends in Waverly, Tennessee experienced on Saturday. This severe storm had creeks overflowing very quickly, which resulted in water rushing into homes and businesses, toppling over vehicles and lifting buildings from their foundations.
