This Mother’s Day, Help Create Lasting Change Through WINGS

She is twelve years old. She dreams of becoming a teacher someday. But several days each month, she misses school, not because she is sick, but because she lacks access to basic personal care supplies that many of us never have to think twice about. Without those essentials, attending school becomes difficult, uncomfortable, and sometimes impossible. Days turn into missed lessons, missed opportunities, and growing uncertainty about the future she once imagined for herself. Sadly, her story is not uncommon.

Millions of women and girls around the world face similar challenges due to poverty, displacement, disasters, and limited access to personal hygiene resources. Something as basic as managing personal health with privacy and dignity becomes a daily struggle that affects education, employment, confidence, and overall well-being.

Through Gleaning For The World’s WINGS program, we are working to change that. WINGS provides sustainable personal care kits to women and girls in need around the world. Each carefully assembled kit contains reusable hygiene supplies designed to last for years. Unlike disposable alternatives that require constant replacement, these kits are durable, practical, and built to provide long-term support. One kit can provide up to three years of sanitary relief and dignity for a woman or girl who may otherwise go without. The impact of these kits reaches far beyond the supplies themselves.

Girls are able to return to school with confidence and continue pursuing their education. Women are able to maintain jobs and care for their families without interruption. Mothers regain a sense of dignity and normalcy in difficult circumstances. What may appear to be a simple package becomes something much greater in the hands of someone who has struggled without it: freedom, confidence, and opportunity.

Since the beginning of the WINGS program, dedicated volunteers have lovingly sewn, assembled, and distributed more than 18,000 kits to women and girls across 38 countries. Every kit represents compassion put into action and a reminder to someone in need that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

This Mother’s Day, we invite you to be part of that story. A gift of $30 helps provide one woman or girl with a sustainable care kit and up to three years of dignity and support. Larger gifts help expand the reach of the program even further, including supporting the creation of new sewing centers in communities where the need is great.
