With the current blood supply shortage, the American Red Cross is seeking new and returning donors to participate in upcoming drives. Gleaning For The World will be hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, August 5, from 2pm to 6pm.
This year’s official hurricane season began on June first, and the staff at Gleaning For The World is ramping up their disaster response program. The nonprofit organization will be hosting a disaster relief collection at Sam’s Club on Wards Road in Lynchburg this Friday and Saturday, (June 18 & 19) from 10am until 6pm each day.
As a Christian, I am encouraged to do good as an expression of the values outlined in the Bible. I especially like the verse 1 Timothy 6:18, which says, “They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.”
In celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we are highlighting our amazing volunteers and the time, talent, gifts, and love they provide for Gleaning For The World year after year!

We share these words of appreciation with you because they are meant for you! Yes, we receive kind notes and phone calls here in Concord, but it is because of our partnership together that so many people are receiving help every day.
We invite you to check out this FREE will and testament writing tool. Amidst recent events, we considered pulling the launch of this resource, which we were worried would be odd or uncomfortable to share during an international health crisis.
In recent weeks, working with our international partnerships, we have supplied humanitarian aid to Venezuela, Ghana, and Nigeria. During a busy season, we realized we had sent our 3,800th shipment (since 1998)! It was a full tractor trailer load of supplies headed to Whiteville, North Carolina, to our partner helping with area individuals and families struggling in the aftermaths of not one, not two, but three Hurricanes!
